REGULATIONS FOR THE GRANFONDO MILAN – SAN REMO CICLOTURISTICA
Art. 1 – The GRANFONDO MILAN – SAN REMO Cicloturistica is open to
- all Italian cyclists in compliance with the license of the Italian Federation of Cyclists or with a sporting promotion organisation that belongs to the National Council.
- all foreign cyclists in compliance with the license of the Cycling Federation of their own country, as recognized by the UCI.
Cyclists included in the Master Gold category (see the FCI list) will not be admitted to the event; the same is true for professionals and those in the elite category (men and women). Those under 23 are only admitted for promotional purposes and will not be allowed into the table of final times, nor will they be able to receive a certificate of participation.
Art. 2 – LICENSE/SPORT MEMBERSHIP CARD
Participation open to anyone who has a membership card of F.C.I. or a Sports Promotional Organization that has signed an agreement with F.C.I. for the year 2017 -ASC, ACLI, ACSI, AICS, ASC, ASI, CSAIN, CSEN/UNLAC, CSI, ENDAS, FIAMMA, LIBERTAS, MSP, UISP – and is in possession of a valid medical certificate denoting eligibility for competitive cycling, and to foreign cyclists in possession of a UCI license valid for the current year, issued by their own National Cycling Federation, and upon presentation of an ethical certificate in the English language and certificate of eligibility.
The foreign individuals who are not in possession of a UCI license must present, before the start of the race, a medical certificate that attests to their eligibility to participate in a competitive sporting cycling event. This certificate must not be older than one year in respect to the date of registration to the event.
Art. 2a – DAY LICENSE
For those who are not in possession of an annual F.C.I. membership card or one issued by a Sporting Promotional Organizations that has signed an agreement with the F.C.I. for 2017, it is possible to sign up for a day card at the cost of 20 Euros. The membership card must be requested at the time of registration to the secretary of registrations and regularize the position of the athlete from the point of view of insurance. It is also imperative to submit a copy of a certificate of eligibility for competitive sports and sign the ethical declaration.
Art. 3 – REGISTRATION
Registration for the event will be completed via the www.milano-sanremo.org website, by arranging the participation fee with Paypal, credit card or bank transfer. Other forms of registration are not permitted for organisational reasons.
Art. 4 – DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION
The deadline for registration is 31 May.
Direct registration is open in Milan the day before the race.
Art. 5 – REGISTRATION FEES
The cost of SILVER registration is
- € 60.00 for registration done by 31 March
- € 65.00 for registration done by 31 May
- €75.00 for registration done on the spot
The cost of GOLD registration, which allows you to start from the first grid, is
- € 70.00 for registration done by 31 March
- € 75.00 for registration done by 31 May
- not available on the spot
Fixed cost for management of online registration: € 2.00.
The above rates are net, bank charges are to be considered entirely charged to the customer.
Forms of payment accepted are:
- Visa or Mastercard credit card
- bank transfer (available only up to 30 April)
Bank costs are the responsibility of the consumer:
- 3% for payment with Visa and Mastercard
- 5% for payments with Paypal
- 10.00 € for non-EU bank transfers
Art. 6 – SERVICES INCLUDED IN THE REGISTRATION FEE
The cost of registration includes:
- souvenir T-shirt (limited to those registered by 30 April),
- entry number,
- free gifts,
- recovery in case of abandonment,
- pasta party
Art. 7 – AGE LIMITS
The event is open to cyclists of both sexes from 18 to 70, in effect the day before the race, in compliance with membership for the current year.
Art. 8 – REGULATIONS
By signing the registration form, you state that you have read and approved the regulations, that you are in good physical condition, and are in possession of a membership card verifying fitness for racing competition that has been issued following a medical examination for competitive sports activities, or that you are in possession of a competitive sport doctor’s certificate in the case of signing up for a daily membership card.

Art. 10 – CLASSIFICATION
At the end of the event a classification of rankings will not be compiled.
In the days following the event it will be possible to see the table of final times on the website, and to find out about your own timing over the route and receive a certificate of participation.
Art. 11 – VERIFICATION
Verification of the license, consignment of numbers and materials described above will take place on Saturday, 10 June from 10:00 to 12:30 and from 14:30 to 19:00 in Milan.
The failure to produce the necessary membership card at the time of registration, or the failure to present the competitive sport medical card required for the registration for a daily card will result in automatic exclusion from the event.
Art. 12 – The meeting time is scheduled for Sunday 11 June 2017 at 6:30 a.m. in Milan where electronic checking of the participants will take place.
Art. 13 – START
Sunday 11 June 2017 at 7:00 in Milan.
The start for grids will take place about 15 minutes apart, consisting of 150 / 200 participants:
- Grid 1: holders of GOLD registration
- Grids 2, 3: organized groups arranged by their organization
- Grid 4 and successive grids: on the basis of the entry number assigned.
Art. 14 – ELECTRONIC CONTROLS
An electronic inspection of the start will be carried out.
The participants who are not present for the checking of the start will be automatically excluded from the table of final times.
There will also be electronic checks carried out on the ascents of the Turchino, the Cipressa and the Poggio di Sanremo.
The organisation reserves the right to carry out electronic or visual controls throughout the route. The location of these check-points will not be indicated on the map of the route, nor will they be indicated beforehand to the participants.
Art. 15 – TIMING: WINNING TIME REGULATION CHIP
The timing service will be provided by Winning Time. Every athlete must be supplied with their own Yellow Winning Time Personal Chip in order to be listed in the table of final times and receive the certificate of participation. The owners of Yellow Winning Time Personal Chips ARE OBLIGED TO enable them from 1 January on the www.winningtime.it website in the manner indicated, or else at the race at the WINNING TIME STAND.
Athletes not already in possession of chips may purchase them directly for the price of 15.00 euros directly from the WINNING TIME STAND in the area where race packages are being distributed.
Athletes can also rent a daily chip valid EXCLUSIVELY for the event upon payment of a caution of 10.00 euros (with refund of 5.00 euros upon return of the chip). The yellow chips and those that have been rented must be placed on the release of the front wheel; incorrect placement will not guarantee accurate inclusion in the table of final times.
Art. 16 – HELMET
The use of an approved rigid helmet is obligatory and it must be worn even in the ascent: anyone discovered to be without a helmet will be automatically excluded from the table of final times and will not be able to receive the certificate of participation.
Art. 17 – ACCOMPANYING VEHICLES
Accompanying vehicles are required to respect the rules of the road and must not cause any interruption to normal road traffic. Accompanying vehicles must take the highway for the MASONE – GENOVA VOLTRI stage, to avoid the disqualification of their athletes.
Art. 18 – ROAD TRAFFIC
All the roads on the route of the event are OPEN to traffic.
It is vital that you have the utmost respect for and observance of the Highway Code.
Art. 19 – RECOVERY VAN
A van will be provided for the recovery of participants who abandon the event, along with their bicycles.
Art. 20 – ARRIVAL
The arrival is planned for the Palafiori Convention Center located in Corso Garibaldi in San Remo, within 12 hours of the official start.
The pasta party service will end by 19:30.
Art. 21 – ORDER OF ARRIVAL
After crossing the finish line, all participants must go the the check-point to return their chip.
Art. 22 – RESULTS
The results of the times of individual participants will be published, in alphabetical order, on the www.milano-sanremo.org website, where it will also be possible to print the certificate of participation.
Art. 23 – COMPLAINTS
Complaints must be directed to the race jury under the terms of the regulations and accompanied by the fee stated by the regulations. Collective reports or complaints that have been signed by more than one person will not be permitted.
Art. 24 – AWARDS
The award ceremony will take place at approximately 17:30 at the Palafiori convention center.
The awarding of prizes will be conducted by drawing lots.
Prizes will only be awarded to those participants who are present at the award ceremony.
There will be special prizes for the teams with the greatest number of participants.
Art. 25 – DISQUALIFICATION
The following types of behavior will result in the disqualification of the competitor:
- participating with the entry number of another competitor
- throwing rubbish on the road
- not observing the highway code
- not respecting these regulations
Art. 26 – ACCEPTANCE OF THE REGULATIONS
By signing the reservation form (even online) the competitor states that he is in possession of medical certification according to the D.M of 18/02/02, has a valid membership card and third-party insurance, and has accepted the current regulations.

Art. 28 ETHICAL REQUIREMENTS
ETHICAL REQUIREMENTS By signing and submitting the entry form, the competitor, together with the representative of his team, certifies that there are no penalties, sporting, civil and or criminal proceedings or investigations pending against him/her for offenses relating to doping and states that he/she has not taken – and is not taking – substances on the anti-doping list of the World Anti-doping Agency (WADA) (http://www.wada-ama.org/Documents/World_Anti-Doping_Program/WADP-Prohibited-list/2013/WADA-Prohibited-List-2013-EN.pdf). False declarations will be prosecuted according to law. The professionals, the elite (men and women) and those under 23, are allowed exclusively for promotional purposes and depending on invitation from the Organizing Committee.
Art. 29 – AMENDMENTS TO THE REGULATIONS
The organisation reserves the right to apply changes to the regulations. The www.milano-sanremo.org website will be considered the official site of the event. All official communications will be effected via this site.
Art. 30 – RESPONSIBILITY
The Organizing Society decline all responsibility for any accidents or damage that may affect the participants, third parties, occurrences before, during or after the holding of the event, and reserves the right to accept participants at its sole discretion.
Please note: Increasingly there are bands of thieves who target cycling races at the international level.
Never leave your vehicle unlocked or unattended, particularly when your bicycle and equipment are on board.
The organization is not liable for any thefts or damage to vehicles and their contents.
Art. 31 – RULES OF THE ROAD
Each participant is considered to be on a personal ride: it is obligatory to observe the rules of the highway code and traffic laws. The road will not be protected.
Art. 32 – JURISDICTION
In the event of litigation the jurisdiction is that of Imperia.
Art. 33 – FORCE MAJEURE
If the race is canceled due to force majeure, such as an alert issued for reasons of adverse weather conditions such as heavy rain, the registration fee will not be refunded.
Please note the event is not a competitive race. Despite the facility of timing, the Milan – San Remo Granfondo remains a cicloturistica and an amateur cycling event.
