January 19, 2016, San Remo (Im) – There will be a weekend that can’t be missed for all cycling fans on 19 and 20 March: on the Saturday, San Remo will host the 107th edition of the Milan-San Remo professional race, a classic monument to the world of cycling, while on the Sunday cyclists will be able to relive in person the excitement of the “Classicissima” thanks to the Granfondo San Remo-San Remo, which will follow the final kilometers of the route.

The Milan-San Remo, a challenge that is included in the World Tour calendar, is the longest race of the season, with its 293 km that goes from Milan to the Italian Riviera, along which it faces the Passo del Turchino, the mythical “Capi” on the Aurelia, and the thrills of the concluding section, the Cipressa and the Poggio di Sanremo, before arriving in the “City of Flowers”.

For 2016, the Milan-San Remo finds itself taking place on the occasion of the day that honors San Giuseppe, on 19 March, precisely the day that from 1937 until 1977 was the official date for holding the event. The arrival time is planned for between 16.30 and 17.00.

On 20 March, the granfondisti can enjoy a taste of the race by attempting the route of the Granfondo San Remo- San Remo “la Classicissima“, starting from San Remo at 9:30 a.m. It will head towards Imperia before going into the inland territory, before returning again to the coast and tracing the route of the race of the professionals, climbing the Cipressa and the Poggio di Sanremo. The finish line for the amateurs will be the summit of Poggio, making it safer and easier for their return to San Remo.

Registration for the Granfondo San Remo-San Remo “la Classicissma” is open, as described on this page, at the cost of € 30, valid until 29 February. From 1st to 16th March, the fee will be 40 euros. On Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th March it will be possible to register only at the secretariat at the location of the event, at the Palafiori on Corso Garibaldi in San Remo, when the fee will be 45 euros.

All information on the Granfondo San Remo- San Remo “la Classicissima” is available on the official website.

The excitement of the Milan-Sanremo will continue on June 5th with the 46th edition of the Granfondo Milan-San Remo Cicloturistica, which will cover the entire route of the race.
