The 46th edition of the Granfondo Milan –San Remo was run on Sunday 5th June 2016, and proved to be a great sporting success for all the participants.
The race, organized by the Unione Cicloturistica San Remo, saw the registration of almost a thousand amateur cyclists who competed over the 300 km that separate Milan and the City of Flowers.
It was a particularly tough sporting challenge this year because the 2016 edition presented an additional level of difficulty, caused by the landslide on the Aurelia in the municipality of Arenzano. In fact the cyclists were diverted on to an alternative route which involved an even harder climb, other than the usual demands of the Classicissima, the Passo del Turchino, the Cipressa, the Poggio …
The Granfondo Milan – San Remo 2016 arrived in the heart of San Remo; the finish line was stationed in Corso Garibaldi, and the after race events took place in the premises of the Palafiori.
The participating cyclists came from all over Italy, and there were also numerous groups of European athletes from many countries: France, Spain, Ireland, the UK, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, Germany, and also many teams from overseas.
The Granfondo Milan- San Remo has once again confirmed itself as a major race at international level, one that is able to draw sporting enthusiasts from all over the world to San Remo.
It is an amateur competition with a long history, one of the most renowned Italian cicloturisticas at amateur level, and the one that holds the record for the number of foreign athletes participating!
