With the arrival of Spring returns the Granfondo San Remo-San Remo,“la Classicissima”. The event will take place the day after the professional’s competition, the Milan-San Remo. The big news for 2016 is the arrival point on the Poggio.
11 December 2015, San Remo (Im) – On Sunday 20 March the second edition of the amateur race, the Granfondo San Remo-San Remo known as “la Classicissima”, the competition dedicated to cycling enthusiasts who already in 2015 have attended one of the most important events in the calendar of professionals worldwide, the Milan -San Remo.
The setting for the show will be the Riviera of Flowers: the start will take place from the Italo Calvino on the seafront in San Remo (Im), with the granfondisti who will head for Imperia and then into the interior, to climb the Colle San Bartolomeo hill.
Rejoining the coast, next will come the Civezza, the Cipressa and then the Poggio of San Remo where the participants will face the final challenges. The finish line will be posted right at the top of the Poggio, after a distance of 108 kilometers when its fields will be reached, at a good 2000 meters of altitude.
The finish line at the summit of the Poggio will allow all the participants to return back quietly to San Remo, following the brief descent and thus avoiding the city traffic on the last kilometers of the competition.
The Granfondo San Remo-San Remo “la Classicissima” will also be valid as the fourth stage of the Gran Premio Costa Ligure 2016.
Registration for the event is open, as described on this page, for the price of 30 euros, valid until 16 March. On the days of Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 March only you will be able to register with the secretary of the event, at the Palafiori on Corso Garibaldi in San Remo.
